YOUR TEAM IS THE BEST TEAM EVER

Vince Lombardi learnt one important lesson from Jesuits school:

“To Be the best that you can be with what you have”

We can find several books, documentaries, and theories on leadership. Many writers have written on leadership, they brought it out from sports and big company stories.

There is a big difference between theory and practice, between American companies and Italian companies. Different cultures, different ways to break these barriers of diffidence and become a leader.

Once again, I see in the sport the best example where we can learn and bring in our company many lessons that we can find outside.

In 1959 Lombardi became the head coach of Green Bay football team. Before 1959 Green Bay team wasn’t that famous in the NFL league. He has created a mentality of winning. In 10 seasons as a head coach in the NFL 9 with the Green Bay, Lombardi compiled a truly amazing record: 105 wins, 35 losses, and 6 ties.

He has transformed the losing team into a winning team through his strong coaching mentality.

In the same way, we need to do the same in our company, inside our team. We need to work with our team and apply the Lombardi method.

If you have a winning team it could be simple to manage indeed, they are good habits to approach challenges. Instead, if you have an alibi team, anything issue that happens they will blame somebody else. In the same way, if you have a losing team, they will give up in front of their first difficulties.

Lombardi gave us a big example of how we can work with a team, how we can create a winning mentality.

Inside the book “What it takes to be #1” by Vince Lombardi, Jr. you can find Lombardi’s core thoughts and study Vince Lombardi’s leadership model:

1.     Self-Knowledge

2.     Character

3.     Integrity

4.     Leadership

Self-Knowledge is the basis for Character, Character is the root of integrity, Integrity provides the foundation of leadership.
